The An Nghiep Industrial Zone in Soc Trang began its operations in 2006. It was the first industrial zone established in the province of Soc Trang and is one of the five key industrial zones in the province today. This industrial zone was invested and constructed by the Soc Trang Industrial Zone Infrastructure Development Company, covering a planned area of 243 hectares with an operational period of 50 years (2006 – 2056).
By the end of 2020, the total production value of the entire industrial zone (based on the State Bank’s exchange rate) was 12,001.4 billion VND. Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) businesses accounted for 561.1 billion VND, representing a 17.2% increase compared to 2019. The import-export turnover of the entire industrial zone reached 13,596.1 billion VND, a 14.35% increase from 2019. The average annual growth rate of the entire zone, assessed until the end of 2020 (after 14 years of operation), was 10%.
The total number of workers employed in the An Nghiep Industrial Zone by the end of 2020 was approximately 18,000, with an average monthly income of around 6 million VND per person. Electricity is sourced from the national grid through a 110kV/22kV substation within the industrial zone. The initial capacity of the power plant is 63 MVA and is planned to be expanded by an additional 40 MVA in the long term.
Industrial wastewater in An Nghiep Industrial Zone – Soc Trang is collected and treated at an on-site wastewater treatment plant with a capacity of 4,000 m3/day-night before being discharged into the industrial zone’s drainage system. Solid waste within the industrial zone is collected, aggregated, and transported to designated processing facilities according to regulations.
The stormwater drainage system is separate from the wastewater system. Rainwater naturally drains through pipes along the industrial zone’s roads to receiving points. Wastewater is channeled through dedicated pipelines to the wastewater treatment plant for processing before being released into the environment.
A communication network is established at the center of the industrial zone. Underground fiber optic cables are laid within the technical corridors, forming a modern information network capable of meeting all communication service requirements promptly and efficiently.
Fire hydrants are strategically placed at 150-meter intervals along the industrial zone’s roads. These hydrants use recycled water from treated production wastewater, ensuring a pressure of 5-7 bar. A 1000m3 reservoir is installed throughout the entire industrial zone. Regular checks, monitoring, maintenance, and necessary equipment additions are conducted to ensure effective fire prevention and control.
Furthermore, to meet the expanding industrial demands, An Nghiep Industrial Zone plans to expand its area by an additional 200-250 hectares from 2021-2025. The project owners continue to invest in and construct infrastructure to accommodate more businesses, attracting significant attention to Soc Trang’s promising industrial landscape.
